WHY ALPHA PHI

Alpha Phi was founded on September 18, 1872, at Syracuse University in New York. Ten collegiate women envisioned an inclusive sisterhood with strong leadership and practices to set the tone for all Alpha Phi chapters across the nation. The Beta Mu chapter was founded at the University of Alabama on February 13, 1932.

OUR VALUES THROUGH OUR CREED

SISTERHOOD THAT LASTS A LIFETIME.

“I believe in the friendships formed in the springtime of my youth.”

We are a fraternity of women united by our sisterhood. From near and far, our journeys to Beta Mu help shape our paths when we move beyond these four years. Alpha Phi is more than four years; it is for a lifetime!

STRIVING FOR INNOVATION.

“I believe in it as a shrine of international sisterhood wherein I may find love and loyalty, sympathy and understanding, inspiration and opportunity.”

As a chapter, we push one another to reach for the stars. Creativity, ingenuity and collaboration are cornerstones of our sisterhood. We continually strive to grow in all we do both individually and collectively.

PRACTICING GENEROSITY AT EVERY TURN.

“I believe in it as a creator of good citizenship, helping me to do my work well, to live in harmony with others, and to serve my country and to trust in God.”

As Alpha Phis, we are charged to do good in our communities. Whether this be through our philanthropy events or helping a neighbor in need, we ask ourselves “What can we do for others?”

HIGH EXPECTATIONS OF CHARACTER.

“I believe in its earnest drive for good scholarship, moral character, and genuine culture.”

Our members take pride in what it means to be an Alpha Phi. Understanding one’s character explains one’s heart. When you join our sisterhood, we choose you because of who you are on the inside. We are better together.
