A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

 

On behalf of the Beta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi, welcome to our official website! I am Karina Oman, Chapter President of Alpha Phi at The University of Alabama.

I am extremely thankful for the privilege to serve an organization of women who have made me into the individual that I am today. When I received my bid in 2021, I had no idea I would not only meet my best friends, but also be given opportunities that have allowed me to grow in ways I didn’t know were possible!

College is an exciting time for you to explore and create your own future, as well as a time of change and personal growth. While these things are exciting, they can also seem challenging for anyone right out of high school. The love and support found in the Beta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi makes it so you feel you are never alone. You will always have the friendship, guidance, and encouragement of your new member class as well as the currents members, alumnae, and advisors.

The sisterhood of Alpha Phi stretches from coast to coast, with over 170 collegiate chapters and more than 200,000 members. We share a commitment to excellence and a strong desire to serve each other and our communities. At The University of Alabama, Alpha Phi enhances the experience of each individual member by focusing on our six ideals: sisterhood, service, scholarship, leadership, loyalty, and character.

In 1872, our founders set the spirit for the Alpha Phi of today… a sisterhood that values the past, but looks forward to the progress offered by the future. As our chapter continues to grow and progress in the future, I look forward to seeing all of the accomplishments made by our sisters.

Alpha Phi’s are leaders, scholars, contributors, and lifetime members of a sisterhood that values these traits. We strive to make notable contributions to our campus, Greek and local communities, as well as to our philanthropy, the Alpha Phi Foundation.

Through Alpha Phi, I have found my best friends, my greatest motivators, my inspiration, and my home away from home. Joining Alpha Phi has truly changed my college experience and my life for the better. I will be forever thankful for the opportunities and experiences that Alpha Phi has provided me, and I wish everyone the same sorority experience!

Without Alpha Phi I would have never gotten the chance to meet them!”

Alpha Phi not only gave me a place where I belong, but also a home away from home. The second I stepped into the house, everyone was beyond welcoming and have continued to show their support and appreciation. I have already met what feels like my life long friends through this sisterhood. My sisters have been uplifting, supportive, and our bond will forever make me Grateful for running home to Alpha Phi.”

 
 

“I went into recruitment trying to find sisters just as genuine as my relationship with Mary Mac. Walking into Alpha Phi each day, I was met with the most genuine girls who welcomed me as if I were one of them. I immediately felt at home and so did my sister. Rushing Alpha Phi together was not planned, but it happened to be the perfect coincidence! Running home hand in hand is one of the happiest memories we have together. Not only have I become closer with my own sister, Mary Mac, but all my new sisters in my new member class! Everywhere I turn there is a smiling face greeting me at the house! Alpha Phi truly is my home away from home!”
