A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT
On behalf of the Beta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi, welcome to our official website! I am Tessa Mauro, Chapter President of Alpha Phi at The University of Alabama.
I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of a sisterhood that has shaped who I am in so many ways. When I received my bid to Alpha Phi in 2022, I had no idea just how impactful this chapter would be. Since then, I’ve made amazing friends—not just in my member class, but across the entire chapter—and I’ve had the chance to grow in leadership, confidence, and connection.
College is such an exciting time full of change, growth, and self-discovery, and having the support of the Beta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi has made all the difference. From day one, I felt surrounded by a group of women who truly care, support one another, and want to see each other succeed.
The sisterhood of Alpha Phi stretches from coast to coast, with over 170 collegiate chapters and more than 200,000 members. We share a commitment to excellence and a strong desire to serve each other and our communities. At The University of Alabama, Alpha Phi enhances the experience of each individual member by focusing on our six ideals: sisterhood, service, scholarship, leadership, loyalty, and character. These aren’t just words to us—they’re the foundation of everything we do.
What makes Alpha Phi so special is the way it blends tradition with growth. Our founders created something incredible back in 1872, and it’s been inspiring to see how our chapter continues to build on that legacy, making space for each of us to lead, serve, and shine in our own way.
Through Alpha Phi, I’ve found people who challenge me, support me, and cheer me on in every part of life. I’m so thankful for the opportunities, friendships, and memories that this sisterhood has given me—and I hope everyone gets to experience something as meaningful as this.
Thanks for stopping by to learn more about the Beta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi at The University of Alabama! Be sure to check out our photos and website, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions—we’d love to connect with you!

“I went into recruitment trying to find sisters just as genuine as my relationship with Mary Mac. Walking into Alpha Phi each day, I was met with the most genuine girls who welcomed me as if I were one of them. I immediately felt at home and so did my sister. Rushing Alpha Phi together was not planned, but it happened to be the perfect coincidence! Running home hand in hand is one of the happiest memories we have together. Not only have I become closer with my own sister, Mary Mac, but all my new sisters in my new member class! Everywhere I turn there is a smiling face greeting me at the house! Alpha Phi truly is my home away from home!”
